Community Outreach

Lourdes College offers community programming through many outlets, including:

  • Appold Planetarium: featuring real-time 3D sky simulation, fulldome shows and multi-media presentations, the Appold Planetarium allows for the future expansion of Lourdes’ astronomy program, the ability to offer shows to the community, as well as the opportunity to collaborate with the astronomy clubs at Northview and Southview high schools, and Olander Park’s astronomy program.
  • Life Lab: an interactive plant and animal learning laboratory with room for up to 30 students from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade, the Life Lab offers resources to pre-service education majors and teachers, and works to foster value-based environmental awareness in children and adults with community outreach activities such as Summer Science Camp.
  • LifeLong Learning: established to meet the needs of adult learners, LifeLong Learning offers classes in a wide variety of academic subjects as well as field trips to places of educational interest.
  • Theater Vision: the Theater Vision program brings professional theatrical companies to the Franciscan Theatre and Conference Center to perform a wide variety of shows for school-age audiences.
