Welcome From The President
Welcome to Lourdes University. Here you will learn about a community focused on learning, service, and reverence. You will discover many opportunities in and outside the classroom that are offered to our students.
At Lourdes, we pride ourselves on academic excellence and personal integrity. We are a diverse community that welcomes students who seek to better themselves through thoughtful conversation and hands-on practical experience. I hope what you learn here will encourage you to visit our campus.
Lourdes' campus boasts more than 110 beautiful acres nestled just west of Lake Erie on the Ohio-Michigan border, in the town of Sylvania. We are proud of our Franciscan heritage and are grateful to the Sisters who founded Lourdes.
On this campus, you will discover a community that seeks to explore not only the questions of the mind, but also those of the spirit. It is a welcoming community that respects and values the beliefs and insights of every faith and invites people to reflect about the deep mysteries of life.
With our small class sizes and low 15 to 1 student-faculty ratio, you will experience a personalized education where dedicated and passionate faculty invite you to join an ongoing conversation, that of the liberal arts university, which has worked to understand and improve the world for centuries. At Lourdes, you will have opportunities to engage in your own research, receive practical experience in an internship, and study or serve abroad. We develop leaders in service and scholarship.
Employers want to hire graduates with creative and critical thinking skills who can communicate clearly and effectively. They also want people with personal integrity and high ethical standards. Employers in the Midwest and beyond have come to expect just such a person when they hire a Lourdes graduate.
I encourage you to take the next step and schedule a visit. When on campus, don't miss the opportunity to meet faculty and staff members as well as some of our current students. I look forward to meeting you.
David J. Livingston Ph.D.
