Dr. Keith Schlender
Interim Provost

Dr. Keith Schlender is an accomplished academic administrator involved in program management, budgeting, assessment and accreditation processes. As Interim Provost, he is responsible for overseeing faculty matters, curricular development, academic standards, and other duties traditionally associated with the chief academic officer.

Born in Newton, KS, Dr. Schlender holds a B.A. degree from Westmar College, in La Mars, IA, and a M.S. degree and Ph.D. from Michigan State University. At Lourdes, he has previously served as Associate Provost (2011-2012), Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs (2010-2011), Title III Director (2010-2012), Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs (2009), and Dean of the Graduate School (2006-2010). Dr. Schlender holds the distinction of being a Professor of Biology with Lourdes as well as Professor Emeritus and Dean Emeritus for The University of Toledo Health Science Campus.

Prior to his arrival at Lourdes, Dr. Schlender served as Chairman of the Councils of Deans and Chief Academic Officer, Dean of the College of Graduate Studies, Professor, and Associate Professor for the Medical University of Ohio. In recognition of his achievements, he is a Medical College of Ohio Recipient of the George Isaac Award for Integrity, and the University of Toledo College of Medicine Recipient of the Career Achievement Award.
