Wednesdays 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. in McAlear Hall 104
June 13, 20, and 27 (3 weeks)
$30 / $35. Register by 6/5

Since the invention of photography in the 1800s, people have used cameras to capture moments in time that are invaluable to historians. In this course we will look at both the development and accessibility of photographic technology and the ways in which historic photographs can be interpreted (or misinterpreted) by today's researchers. Consideration will also be given to digital preservation and search methods available in the 21st century.

Dr. Myers has a doctorate in history and has taught at Franklin University as well as many popular Lifelong Learning classes.

With the 2012 London Games beginning at the end of July, in this course we will study the history of the
modern Olympic Games since they started in 1896. Emphasis will be placed on the Summer Olympics, and in particular the politics and controversies surrounding them, which often had little to do with the sporting events themselves. We will also take a special look at the London Games in 1908 and 1948 and the final preparations for 2012.
