Franciscan Center House Policies

Chaperones should be made aware of all house policies in advance of their trip to the theater.

  1. Arrival
    1. Plan to enter the Center no earlier than 35 minutes and no later than 20 minutes prior to the performance.
    2. Follow the directions of volunteers and officers in the parking lot. Drivers must be acquainted with the "Instructions for Bus Drivers and Car Drivers" included in packets sent to reserving educators.
    3. The person who made the reservations should arrive at the Center first. Groups should assemble and the entire group should be present before anyone is seated.
  2. Seating
    1. Your group has been assigned a SECTION of the theater (right, left, or center). Within that section, you will be seated on a first-come first-seated basis. Wait for an usher to show you to your seats.
    2. Students should remain in their seats during the entire performance. If a student must leave during the performance, s(he) should be escorted from the theater by an adult. A staff member will be available in the back of the theater to help, or you can report to the receptionist's desk.
    3. If when you arrive, members of a group must use restrooms, please accomplish this after being seated.
    4. After the performance, the house staff dismisses groups by rows, from the front to the back of the theater, in order to avoid crowding, pushing, and confusion.
    5. Adults sitting in the right and left sections may be shown emergency exit routes by a staff member and asked to lead students out of the theater through appropriate exits in case of emergency evacuation.
  3. Chaperones
    1. Chaperones must have a paid seat reserved in advance and included in the group reservation.
    2. In performances for young children, all adults sit at the ends of aisles or in the back rows, so children's views will not be obstructed. Please inform adults prior to the performance.
    3. Children under the age of 4 will not be permitted in the theater unless they are part of a school group. If chaperones must bring young children, they may wait for their group in the Center's commons area.
  4. Theater Rules
    1. No food or drink is allowed in the theater. Theater Vision Day participants may eat lunch only in the designated area.
    2. Chewing gum is not allowed anywhere in the building at any time!
    3. Your group is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in their seating area and in the building in general. Defacing property will not be tolerated.
    4. Please remind students of Theater Etiquette such as "hats off in the theater."
    5. Appropriate behavior is expected at all times. Franciscan Center staff reserve the right to remove any disruptive student. Teachers are expected to assist in disciplining disruptive students.
    6. If teachers observe students from another group misbehaving, they may verbally correct the students or call the problem to the attention of the students' teacher or a Center staff member.
    7. Due to copyright laws, no cameras, video recorders, and/or audio recorders are permitted in the theater without prior permission from the performing company and the Franciscan Center.

Performances must begin as close to the listed times as possible. We cannot wait for late arrivals.
