Tennessee – March 2

Posted by: jjacob on 3/4/2013

Euchre with the Tennessee Habitat TeamWe pulled out of Lourdes at 8:45 a.m. this morning and had a really good ride down. The group started snacking before we hit the highway and only stopped when it was lunchtime. Everyone was surprised at the amount of snow we saw on the way down. We arrived about 5:30 p.m. and are staying at a beautiful Methodist church. It was wonderful to see everyone work together to unload the vans and to set up air mattresses. A couple people are sharing mattresses so everyone can have one. What a great group.

This week has been a whirlwind, so it is great to finally get here. We are missing Pat Bellomo more than you can imagine, but are grateful to welcome Karen and Tank to fill out our team. We made a quick run to the grocery store and have been relaxing all evening. We taught Courtney and Ellie how to play euchre and of course they paired up with Sam to beat Tank and me. Oh my! Looking forward to what tomorrow brings.

Tennessee Habitat TeamAfter a 9 hour car ride, it’s safe to say I am familiar with the feeling of a numb butt! Riding down here was a great experience though! Everyone got to eat, laugh, eat, talk, and eat together. Did I mention we got to eat? It’s the end of day one and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the week has in store for us! This is a wonderful opportunity and I am so blessed to be a part of such a wonderful team.
