Throughout the past years students have participated in various outreach trips. Probably most of you are familiar with our Spring Break Habitat Trip. As time moved on, students began requesting a summer trip. This year we decided that it was time to get a summer trip off he ground.
We working with an organization called Franciscan’s For the Poor. The organization is sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor in Cincinnati, Ohio. This organization assisted over 35 agencies throughout the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area.
Each day that we are here the students and staff of Lourdes will be volunteering at a different organization – both direct and indirect workplaces. Working at a different site each day is deliberate so that the students can have a variety of different types of volunteer experiences in the hopes that one might “fit” them. We have different gifts and this experience will help us find ours.
The organization has been great to work with and has set up a VERY detailed schedule of the week, making sure we make it to our service site and home. They have included a guest speaker who once was homeless, dinner with the sisters, a night out at a local pizza place called Venice on Vine (more about that later in the week).
We are excited about the week ahead of us and are eager to share are experiences with all of you! Thank you for your love and support.
