• Artcyclopedia  -- provides references to sites on the World Wide Web where artists' works can be viewed online. The vast majority of the fine artists in this database specialize in painting and sculpture.
• Artlex Art Dictionary  -- definitions for terms used in discussing art/visual culture, along with supporting images, pronunciation notes, great quotations and cross-references.
• Web Gallery of Art  -- a virtual museum and searchable database of European painting and sculpture of the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque periods (1100-1850). Biographies, commentaries, guided tours and other services are provided.
• Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM) -- home of the largest collection of American art in the world. Online access to Inventories of American painting and sculpture, Pre-1877 art exhibition catalogue index, and Photograph archives
