The Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) degree program offers an intellectually challenging educational experience that provides opportunities for connecting and applying knowledge across the humanities, fine arts, social sciences, and natural sciences.

The program is designed to enrich students’ personal and professional lives and the quality of their service. Students will develop an integrated knowledge of the contemporary world rooted in an understanding of the humanities, sciences, and arts. They will develop the creative, analytical, and research skills to confront questions, solve problems, and face challenges in a variety of fields.

The MALS program recognizes that real world complex issues are often too broad to approach from a single perspective. The emphasis of the MALS program on interdisciplinary learning moves faculty and students beyond the perspectives of any individual discipline.

Student Survival Guide

What exactly is a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies or Liberal Studies? What to do after the degree? What does the future hold? What kind of jobs are waiting out there after graduation? The inaugural class of MALS students have created a Student Survival Guide that shows why the degree may be the right choice for you.
