Jim started his career in Toledo in 1973 as a clinical therapist at Family Services of Northwest Ohio. A couple years later, he became a supervisor and outpatient therapist at the East Center for Community Mental Health which many years later merged with the Ruth Ide Community Mental Health Center and became what is now Unison Behavioral Health Group. For almost thirty years, he gained experience as an individual and family therapist; a supervisor; a program, organization, and policy developer; a grant writer, and for the last seventeen years, a chief executive officer of a large behavioral health care private/non-profit agency. Besides his interest in educating and training new professionals for the field of social work, Jim likes spending time with his family, playing golf, biking, hiking, and traveling. He is an avid fan of University of Michigan athletics.
