Endowed Chairs

An endowed chair is the highest honor bestowed on a university professor. It is awarded in recognition of past and potential contributions to his or her academic discipline. In addition to the academic honor, an endowed chair often provides funding for support of the professor's teaching, research, and service responsibilities and program dollars. This funding is typically made available through an endowment fund.

The Lourdes Endowed Chairs allow us to secure the most competitive and qualified faculty in a way that we could not otherwise. Endowed Chairs provide a major advantage in recruiting future additions to the faculty as well, as accomplished scholars seek to work with equally accomplished peers, and to be supported by institutions with an established commitment to their teaching and research.
