In your first-year of college what did you think your future career would be: Youth Pastor in a Local Church

Favorite book or music type, group or movie (or all of the above): I love to read biographies, books on any war that America was involved in and books about American History. I like Rush, Toby Mac, Mercy Me, The Cranberries and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Movies: We Were Soldiers, We Are Marshall, Lincoln, Gettysburg.

Interest outside of work: Hiking, golfing, watching football, camping, whitewater rafting, sitting around a campfire

What you wish someone had told you when you were a first-year college student: Don't wait until the last minute to study for a test or write a paper. Don't procrastinate! Get your work done first and then play, don't play first and then try to get your school work finished.

Anything else you would like to share: I look forward to meeting each of you and am excited to spend some time with you this fall. I have a trip to Vietnam, hiking the Grand Canyon, and building a cabin in Gettysburg on my Bucket list.

Interest outside of work: Reading history, business and leadership books, playing board games with friends and family, traveling to sporting events, including the Big Ten Football Championship game

What you wish someone had told you when you were a first-year college student: College is a lot harder than high school, so you need to be sure to study a lot more and be ready to be challenged! What got you through high school may not be what you need to get through college, so talk to others about how to adapt and be ready for the challenges of college.

What you wish someone had told you when you were a first-year college student: View required non-major courses (core requirements, general educations, etc.) as an opportunity to sample other fields of study and to see if you've picked the right major; don't necessarily approach them with a "let's get this over with" mentality.

What you wish someone had told you when you were a first-year college student: You will grow and change in wonderful ways but you will also fail miserably at some things-all of this is part of becoming someone other than the person you were in high school.

Anything else you would like to share: Find your voice to ask for help-no need to shout but you must figure out how to ask AND receive assistance and guidance.

Interest outside of work: My family. I have two boys (three counting my husband). They keep me busy running!

What you wish someone had told you when you were a first-year college student: Focus focus focus! And all "big deal" moments will pass... and make for great stories later!

Favorite book or music type, group or movie (or all of the above):
Books—really eclectic; not sure that I could narrow it to one kind, but I will admit to being a bibliophile.

Music—favorite is Baroque instrumental; followed by Renaissance instrumental. Also like ethnic folk music.

Movies—Comedies (embarrassed to say) that often the sillier, the better—Animal House, Caddy Shack, Borat, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, and Anchorman rank pretty high on my list. My favorite might be Victor, Victoria.

Interest outside of work: There is life outside of work? Tell me how to get there!

What you wish someone had told you when you were a first-year college student: Wow, not sure I can remember that far back, but maybe that students need to be open to all kinds of possibilities that present themselves. Each one is an opportunity to consider.

Anything else you would like to share: Education isn't a goal, but rather a life-long journey.

Favorite book or music type, group or movie (or all of the above): My tastes in movies and music are quite eclectic. I enjoy everything from a little Bon Jovi to a little Kristen Chenoweth.

Interest outside of work: Outside of work I enjoy quiet time with friends and family

What you wish someone had told you when you were a first-year college student: I wish someone had told me there is more to college than grades.

Interest outside of work: Writing, crafts such as crewel and embroidery work, watching NCIS, reading, presenting talks on earth and environment, dog sitting, listening to music and traveling

What you wish someone had told you when you were a first-year college student: That you shouldn't do something just because your friends were going that route. You have to do something that you are really passionate about. College is different than high school. You really have to work hard.

Anything else you would like to share: Don't slack off because it's too hard to catch up when you do. Stay organized. Ask for help if you need it. If you get lonesome during that first year, fight it! This is all part of growing up. Explore your options! It is your future so plan it well.

In your first-year of college what did you think your future career would be: In my first-year of college I thought I was going to be a Nurse.

Favorite book or music type, group or movie (or all of the above): I love country music!

Interest outside of work: Outside of work I enjoy hunting and being outdoors. l also love to cook and bake.

What you wish someone had told you when you were a first-year college student: I wish someone would have told me that it is okay to make changes. This could be changes in major, interest, perspective, and more. Going into college, I expected to grow as an individual, but as I began to make changes, I often questioned whether it was right or wrong. Changes are going to happen…embrace them and have no regrets.

Anything else you would like to share: I never imagined how fast my college years would go by. I feel satisfied with what I have accomplished as a student at Lourdes University, mostly because I grabbed ahold of any opportunity I had to grow and to make a difference. At times I was challenged, but I learned from each experience. I hope that all first-year students will feel welcomed as a new member of the Lourdes community and that they seek every opportunity they have to grow and become the person they wish to be.

What you majored in: Biology with a concentration in Pre-Medicine

In your first-year of college what did you think your future career would be: I have wanted to practice medicine since I was four years old. In my first year of college, Lourdes University really showed me the discipline and hard work needed to be a competitive applicant for the medical school process and I am excited to see how far I will go.

Favorite book: Les Miserables by Victor Hugo
Favorite music: My favorite band is Blue October. I also listen to bands like Mumford and Sons, SafetySuit, Fall Out Boy, and Panic At the Disco.

Interest outside of work: I enjoy going to LEAP events, volunteering, and hanging out with my younger sister and brother.

What you wish someone had told you when you were a first-year college student: When I was a first-year college student I wish someone would have told me to take more pictures! I had no idea what a wonderful experience I was going to have. After I got involved with Student Government Association, Orientation, LEAP, and other student organizations I did not realize how many truly wonderful people I would meet. Capture your moments because in a year from now you will be able to see how far you have grown.

What you wish someone had told you when you were a first-year college student: Never be afraid to ask for help, no matter the topic, academically, financially, or personally.

Anything else you would like to share: To really get the best experience out of your college years, get involved. Lourdes University is an amazing university that allows and supports every single students to be who they are and to grow into the person they have always dreamt of being.
