In your first-year of college what did you think your future career would be: Editor

Favorite book or music type, group or movie (or all of the above): Too many favorite books to list—most anything by William Faulkner, Toni Morrison, Jane Austen, Virginia Woolf and Louise Erdrich

Interest outside of work: My family. I spend a lot of time attending my boys' sporting events and other activities. I like to bake. I run when I have the time.

What you wish someone had told you when you were a first-year college student: Get to know your professors. They are interesting people.

In your first-year of college what did you think your future career would be: Family Medicine

Favorite book or music type, group or movie (or all of the above): The New York Times and any mystery novel or movie

Interest outside of work: Enjoying life with our two teenage sons, animal husbandry with our 3 dogs & 6 cats, and making things

What you wish someone had told you when you were a first-year college student: Try it. You just might love it!

What you majored in: Elementary Education; Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction

In your first-year of college what did you think your future career would be: I always knew I was going to be a teacher.

Favorite book or music type, group or movie (or all of the above): I love to read, but my new favorite series is The Hunger Games. I like all types of music but am partial to Country.

Interest outside of work: I love to travel to warm places with my family; anywhere with a beach, sunshine and beautiful water is good for me!

What you wish someone had told you when you were a first-year college student: You will learn more in your first month of teaching than you learned all 4 years in college; real-world experience is everything.

In your first-year of college what did you think your future career would be: High school math and history teacher (and a high school basketball coach)

Favorite book or music type, group or movie (or all of the above): Book – Bible, Music type – R&B, Movies – The Color Purple & The Godfather (Parts I & II)

Interest outside of work: My kids.. who has time for anything else?

In your first-year of college what did you think your future career would be: I thought I would be an elementary school teacher

Favorite book or music type, group or movie (or all of the above): Favorite books – Gone With the Wind and Harry Potter series

Interest outside of work: I love to read and I love dogs.

What you wish someone had told you when you were a first-year college student: It’s OK to mess up – no one is perfect.

What you majored in: Applied Health Science (BGSU) and Higher Education (UK)

In your first-year of college what did you think your future career would be: Television Producer, Journalist, and Science Teacher (Yes. I changed my major an actual total of 6 times during my undergraduate career)

Favorite book or music type, group or movie (or all of the above): Rudy is my favorite movie since I am a die-hard Notre Dame Fan. I love all kinds of music, especially polkas since my dad plays the accordion in a polka band. I also just read and loved The Hunger Games.

Interest outside of work: Spending time working on our new house that my husband and I bought, coaching volleyball, cake decorating on the side, and traveling.

What you wish someone had told you when you were a first-year college student: That it’s okay to be undecided in what you want to do, and to pick one or two things/clubs/orgs to get really involved with, instead of joining everything.

Anything else you would like to share: I studied abroad in Aberystwyth, Wales and have traveled to Germany, Austria, Holland, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and England throughout the past 11 years. I coached volleyball in Holland in 2007 and in Austria in 2008.

What you majored in: Undergraduate – Double Major Health Education and Physical Education, Graduate – Public Health Masters of Science and Education

In your first-year of college what did you think your future career would be: I planned on being a Physical Education Teacher and was for 20 years.

Favorite book or music type, group or movie (or all of the above):
Favorite Music – Peter, Paul, & Mary, Folk
Favorite Movie – Eat, Pray, Love; Inception

Interest outside of work: Reading mysteries, Walking & Exercise, Watching my son play tennis & other sports

What you wish someone had told you when you were a first-year college student: Go to activities outside of class; activities like Passport, concerts, sporting events

Interest outside of work: Kids and sports

What you wish someone had told you when you were a first-year college student: Take the max credits for Flat Rate tuition or you will pay more later!

Where you went to college: BA, Interdisciplinary Studies, The University of Toledo; MOL, Organizational Leadership, Lourdes University

What you majored in: Undergraduate (marketing, business administration); Graduate (leadership)

In your first-year of college what did you think your future career would be: International Relations, except I didn't speak a second language! LOL. Came close in my career today – Public Relations.

Favorite book or music type, group or movie (or all of the above): The Constant Gardener (movie) although I can quote lines from Casablanca, Jaws and The Godfather; Fleetwood Mac (music) although I absolutely loved Captain & Tennille and Styx while growing up; I'm a sucker for old Betty Neels romances. Need to keep my reading on the light side. That's why I continue to take classes, to force myself to learn more and be amazed by others.

Interest outside of work: Travel! Travel! Travel! I have been to 25 states, Italy, Canada, Mexico, and soon….. St. Maarten, St. John, St. Thomas, Grand Turk and the Bahamas. My dream trip will be the Eastern Mediterranean including the Greek Isles. Favorite places been to: Savannah …. It's best savored in the spring when "she's in full bloom"; Washington, DC, and Hawaii!

What you wish someone had told you when you were a first-year college student: 1. Don't be so stressed. 2. You'll be surprised what you're able to accomplish if you dedicate yourself (took me a while for that one to sink in).

Anything else you would like to share: Do as many internships and study abroad or immersion experiences as possible. Learn from others and get your foot in the door. Oh yeah, and always stay focused on building your resume – make sure you show outcomes/results.

What you wish someone had told you when you were a first-year college student: Don’t get too excited about your refund check. You still have to pay it all back!

Anything else you would like to share: Get involved in every way possible. You are only in college once, live it up!
