Counseling Services - Sophia Center

The Sophia Center is dedicated to providing a balanced, integrated and synergistic approach to nurture students' wellness in mind, body and spirit. From individual or group counseling to educational testing, their credentialed staff offers a wide range of services to empower individuals with the personal strength to live as well-balanced individuals.

LourdesALERT

The LourdesALERT text messaging system allows the university to keep students, faculty and staff updated in the event of an emergency, tornado warning or weather closing. The LourdesALERT system is an opt-in program. If students want to receive LourdesALERT messages, they must sign up using the online registration form located at lourdes.edu/alert.

Health Care

Health insurance is the responsibility of Lourdes University students. Students who do not have health insurance can contact any insurance agency for rates for both full-time and part-time students. The Office of Student Life has brochures with student health insurance contact information from several companies.

Located just 1.5 miles from Lourdes University, Sylvania Urgent Care diagnoses and treats all accidents and illnesses of pediatric and adult patients. The center also provides sports and school physicals.

Parking

Every student who operates or expects to operate one or more motor vehicles on the Lourdes University campus including at Lourdes Commons Housing must register the vehicle(s) at the Welcome Center, located inside Russell J. Ebeid Hall, and obtain a parking tag. Parking tags are available at no charge.

Security

Lourdes University’s Safety and Security Officers are trained in many aspects of crime prevention, detection and community service. All officers are certified in Standard First Aid/CPR/AED for adults, children and infants. While our officers do not have arrest powers, they cooperate and work closely with the Sylvania Police Department and other police agencies to coordinate necessary police response or arrests made on campus.

The Lourdes University Department of Public Safety has agreements of understanding with local law enforcement agencies to investigate alleged criminal activities. All of our officers are radio equipped for an efficient response to community needs and are committed to providing our staff, students, residents and visitors with respectful and professional service.

While Lourdes promises to commit an effort to ensure everyone’s safety, we are unable to promise total isolation from crime. It is important that security be everyone’s responsibility. The key to preventing crime is to be aware of it and the surroundings.

Shuttle Service

For students' safety and convenience, Lourdes provides free Gray Wolf shuttle service Monday-Thursday from Lourdes Commons (residence halls) to main campus.
