Executive Director of Marketing
Kingston HealthCare Company
When Joanna accepted the position of Executive Director of Marketing at Kingston HealthCare Company, she had arrived at a crossroads. Having worked several years in marketing and leadership roles for a Fortune 500 engineering-based company, she had recently lost her job to corporate downsizing. Today, she says, this new path of marketing in the healthcare industry has led to what she describes as a "great heart fit."
"While I had been considering becoming a consultant, I knew deep down that I was a people person and I needed to work with individuals on a daily basis, to believe in an organization’s product and services and to make a difference. Even though the nomenclature and clientele are different in a health care environment, the field of marketing remains consistent. Regardless of the type of business, it’s important to grasp statistical outcomes, be data-driven and understand the profitability structure.
“In my role, I am responsible for making the Kingston brand and messaging consistent. I am also excited to take Kingston into the newest realm in marketing – social media. My degree helped me to be aware of the effects of organizational change and how to help people to adapt to change. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t rely on my MOL studies. Whether employed at an engineering or healthcare organization, I have made a positive difference through my collaboration, team-building and leadership skills.”
She offers the following advice to current students pursuing a business or leadership degree: "We all possess unique and valuable talents that may not be recognized on our own or by our work peers or supervisors. The MOL program provides the opportunity for people who are motivated to build and discover their true leadership potential."
