Last Saturday, Lourdes’ Franciscan Theatre & Conference center was glowing with the more than 530 guests who came out to celebrate higher education and raise funds for student scholarships. Honorary Chairs Susan and Allan Block, and Lourdes Interim President Dr. Janet Robinson and husband Dr. Gene Robinson welcomed guests as they arrived.

Nicole Cappelletty, a senior majoring in psychology, served as Lourdes’ student speaker. Nicole gave heartfelt thanks and appreciation to guests for their generous support that has helped people like her complete their education. “Lourdes truly has changed me and I am grateful for the opportunity to experience its amazing faculty and staff. Thank you for helping me, and others, to accomplish our dreams.”

Entertainment for the evening included performances by the Toledo Ballet, Opera, and Symphony Jazz Trio, as well as Tim Shew, who recently completed a starring role in Broadway’s Evita. 2013 Platinum Sponsors include Block Communications, Inc. [Susan and Allan Block], Mass Mutual Financial Group [Bruce Klinger], and Sylvania Franciscan Health [Jim Pope] were recognized and thanked for their generous support.

Since its inception, more than 40 corporate sponsors, 3,000 guests and countless organizations have helped Luminations raise more than $1.9 million for students.

This year’s event brought in $264,000 for scholarships at Lourdes.
