Overview of Accessibility Services

Accessibility Services at Lourdes College strives to ensure equal access to programs and facilities, provide reasonable and appropriate auxiliary services, and improve the understanding and support of the campus community.  To receive specific academic adjustments for a disability, you must have an "impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, have documentation of such an impairment, and demonstrate that the requested academic adjustments are necessary" for you to participate in the programs of the College (Rehabilitation Act of 1973/ PL 93-112, Section 504).

Disabilities served include, but are not limited to:

  • Chronic illnesses
  • Communication disorders
  • Learning disabilities
  • Auditory, mobility, systemic, emotional, and visual conditions

Once you have been admitted to Lourdes College, you should meet with the Director of Accessibility Services to discuss academic adjustments. The recommended academic adjustments are specific to your disability.

We realize that circumstances differ among individuals. If you are having problems with your classes, your disability, and/or your academic adjustments, please talk with the Director of Accessibility Services so that adjustments can be made. It is important to address the small problems before they become large. Because you have been admitted to Lourdes College, we know that with your diligent effort you can be academically successful.
