Message from the Department Chair

It is an exciting time as Lourdes University and the College of Business and Leadership (COBAL) progress and grow together under a new vision that aims even further for student success. In addition, COBAL’s mission and energy only continue to be brighter for marketing majors. With ethics and breakthrough business practices taught to all COBAL students, the marketing program takes it even further, focusing on providing real-world exposure in every course. Marketing students get exposed to modern and traditional marketing techniques to develop superior marketing skills via real-world projects and state-of-the-art simulations. From proven relationship-building secrets to artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as search engine optimization (SEO), COBAL marketing students will graduate with the skills needed to excel in their future workplace.

The marketing program continues the Lourdes University and COBAL vision of being a student-centered experience. Our upper-level marketing courses aim to have 20 or fewer students, allowing them to interact directly with their professors. Our Marketing program advisory board includes marketing professionals who have worked for Proctor & Gamble, Amazon, LinkedIn, Niemen Marcus, and other organizations. These advisory professionals help update and direct the program to prepare our students with cutting-edge skills to be competitive in the workplace. They also frequently guest speak in our courses while being available to students for mentoring.

Student employment is a priority in COBAL. All marketing majors must complete at least one internship before graduation and are encouraged to intern for at least one full year before entering the workforce. COBAL mentors help students explore internship opportunities and set goals of employment based on acquired skills and career aspirations. Many of our graduates have earned internships and full-time employment in local and national organizations such as Owens Corning, The Andersons, Dana, Amazon, Proctor & Gamble, Toledo Mudhens, Toledo Walleye, and Hart.

The marketer’s role has become even more essential in an ever-changing world and evolving methods to capture market segments.
