LourdesALERT: Powered by WEN

LourdesALERT is a text message system designed to warn students, faculty and staff in the event of an emergency.

The program is an enhancement of Lourdes' overall emergency preparedness plan and will only be used to notify participants of emergency situations, immediate weather alerts and school closings. The Lourdes Administration will distribute messages to participants. To receive these text messages, you must opt-in to the LourdesALERT system using your Lourdes username and password.

If you have questions about the system or would like to receive an update via email, please contact us.

* Please note that no communication distribution method, including text messaging, is infallible. For that reason, Lourdes uses redundant systems of emergency communication, including telephone, website, email, and person-to person to distribute news and instructions during an emergency.

Why should I register?

While Lourdes uses a number of distribution methods to notify you of an emergency, using LourdesALERT can save you critical time depending upon your location.

Does registering automatically update my emergency contact information for my student/employee record?

No. Registering for LourdesALERT will not alter the emergency contact information listed in your personal or employee records folder.

Can I register through LourdesALERT to receive just an e-mail?

No, you must register a mobile telephone number to register an e-mail address. You cannot register an e-mail address alone.

Is there a charge for registering to receive messages through LourdesALERT?

This is a free service provided by Lourdes. However, your cell phone provider may charge you for receiving text messages (SMS). Check your service agreement for details. Service costs from your cellular provider are your responsibility.

Under what circumstances will I receive an Alert?

LourdesALERT messages are used during emergencies that threaten life safety on a campus and/or severely impacts normal campus/institutional operations.

Will the school periodically test the system?

Lourdes may send a test message to verify your subscription to this service and to ensure the system is working properly.

What if I do not have text messaging with my cell phone?

In addition to text messages, Lourdes will send emergency e-mails to all students, faculty and staff whenever a serious campus situation arises. All other available means of communication will also be used to help ensure that the campus community is notified and informed.

Will the LourdesALERT system work if there is a power failure?

All systems, including email and text messaging, are subject to failure due to emergencies or disasters. While LourdesALERT is a valuable addition to our existing emergency notification systems, we cannot guarantee that it will work in all emergencies. This is why we try to have redundant systems of emergency communication distribution.

How do I acquire additional information about LourdesALERT or report a problem with the system?

Please email any additional questions or report problems to the Help Desk at 419-824-3807 or LourdesALERT@lourdes.edu.

If I am not currently enrolled as a student at Lourdes, will I still receive LourdesALERT text messages?

No. The purpose of the LourdesALERT system is to notify current students of emergency situations.
