During spring semester, nearly 80 nursing students attended the Association of periOperative Nurses Association national conference in Chicago, IL.

Students from three nursing courses were offered the opportunity to network with nursing professionals and students at this national conference. AORN is a professional association that empowers the OR nurse with education, standards of practice and peer networking.

In March, over 200 registered nurses and nursing students from northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan attended a Lourdes College School of Nursing sponsored leadership conference at the Franciscan Center.

The conference titled "The Nursing Role in a Changing Environment" was planned by the Master of Science in Nursing students in their leadership course under the direction of Director Betty Cain, PhD, and Cheryl Schriner, PhD, Associate Professor of Nursing. Carol Curran, President, CEO and Perinatal Nurse Specialist of Clinical Specialists Consulting, Inc., was the keynote speaker.

In other news, Master of Science Nursing student Sarah Matuszek created the winning design for the newly created MSN pin. Students received their pin at the School of Nursing Convocation Ceremony in May.
