A gardener’s delight
Associate Professor of Nursing Kathy Perzynski and her husband Tom welcomed garden lovers from the region during the Friends of Toledo Day Nursery's 13th Annual Garden Tour.
"I discovered the gardener within me 13 years ago," notes Kathy. "Every year, my gardens take up more and more of the lawn. It is more than a hobby; gardening is an effective strategy to ease the strain of a busy work week."
The organizers of this year's "In Another Garden" tour approached Tom and Kathy to be one of 11 featured gardens in the West Toledo area. "We were so excited to share our garden with others," adds Kathy. "Of course, we did spend some time enhancing it for the show."
Theirs is a garden that offers a peaceful sanctuary. Delights include a garden path, trellis bird house and a whimsical toadstool. The garden lover will discover an inviting array of annuals and perennials including day lilies, Lenten roses, astilbe, lavender, creeping phlox, foxglove, a weeping Japanese maple, hydrangea tree, butterfly bushes and much more.
