Lourdes: 50 years strong
In January, over 600 people from the community turned out to help Lourdes celebrate its 50th anniversary. The day began with morning liturgy at Queen of Peace Chapel officiated by Reverend Robert J. Wilhelm. Attendees then proceeded to the Franciscan Center for an official program in the theatre followed by a toast and brunch in the Commons and gym.
To commemorate the event, the WGTE-TV production, "Lourdes College: A Community Moving Forward," was available to all in attendance. Celebrants were also treated to a special supplement printed and distributed by The Blade.
Joining the celebration were Mayor of Sylvania Craig A. Stough, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, and over 100 alumni. January 13, 2008 was officially named Lourdes College Day by Mayor Stough.
