Lourdes and University of Detroit Mercy (UDM) have established a partnership to offer students a new Engineering Transfer Program. The program allows interested students to take math, science and humanities classes at Lourdes College. Students then complete their degree at UDM. Specializations include Civil, Electrical, Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering.
Students enrolled in the program will attend Lourdes for the first two years of full-time study. Open to both full and part-time students, pre-engineering students can complete their Engineering Graphics and Design and Introduction to Solid Modeling courses at UDM for no additional cost while attending Lourdes.
A second benefit includes the opportunity to complete three paid cooperative work assignments that are equivalent to one full year of professional experience.
University of Detroit Mercy is Michigan's largest private Catholic University, with approximately 100 academic majors and programs. Sponsored by the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) and the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas Regional Community of Detroit, the University has campuses located in downtown and northwest Detroit.
"The Lourdes-UDM partnership allows students in our region access to a quality Engineering program at a reduced cost," offers Janet Robinson, PhD, Vice President for Academic Affairs. "Not only will our students benefit from the shorter drive time and the personalized attention at Lourdes, they also will gain valuable work experience to assist them in their profession upon graduation."
