From bake sales to ice cream socials to shared meals during study sessions, anyone who has spent time on Lourdes' campus knows that food is a hallmark of the institution's culture.
Now, the bulldozers are out and construction is underway as Lourdes prepares to open its newest student life offering – a 9,500 square foot dining hall.
"With the record growth that Lourdes has experienced, we really are at the point where we need a community dining space. The design we chose stays true to our student-focused atmosphere," President Bob Helmer, PhD, JD, says.
Crafted and constructed by The Collaborative, Inc. and Rudolph/Libbe, Inc., the dining hall will feature:
- Seating for 175
- Full service gourmet kitchen
- Food Court featuring various cuisines
- Ála carte stations
- Lounge/study space with widescreen TV
- Outdoor dining patio
Lourdes previously partnered with The Collaborative in the design and construction of Delp and McAlear Halls, which were two of three architectural projects recognized at the 2009 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Toledo Design awards program.
Rudolph/Libbe has also completed a variety of building projects for Lourdes and the Sisters of St. Francis, including the award-winning Franciscan Theatre & Conference Center.
The dining hall is scheduled to open fall 2011.
