To address the needs of area teachers, Lourdes and the Toledo Diocesan Catholic Schools have entered into a short-term partnership to make pursuing the Ohio P-12 Reading Endorsement more affordable for full time teachers employed at Catholic schools.

This academic year The Catholic Educator Scholarship granted $1,000 to all qualifying teachers in any Toledo Diocesan Catholic school. Coupled with additional funding including the Lourdes College Partners in Catholic Education (PCE) program, teachers who enrolled in the spring cohort realized as much as an 80% reduction in tuition.

"This short-term partnership has resulted in a win-win situation for these educators and Lourdes College," offers Keith Ramsdell, Director of Graduate Admissions. "The Graduate School credits this partnership for the increased enrollment in the department of Education graduate programs."

The P-12 Reading Endorsement Certificate Program is designed for teachers wishing to enhance their knowledge and capabilities in teaching reading both in the classroom and in resource settings. Students who successfully complete the certificate and pass the Introduction to the Teaching of Reading Praxis II Specialty Test will be eligible to receive the P-12 Ohio Reading Endorsement.

The School of Education offers undergraduate degrees in Adolescence to Young Adult, Early and Middle Childhood Education. In addition, the school offers the Master of Education program to address the professional development needs of today's educators. By design, the program leads to the advancement of knowledge and instructional skills that provide the foundation for quality classroom instruction.

The Graduate School currently offers master's degrees in Education, Nursing and Organizational Leadership. Lourdes is developing plans for a Master in Theology program and a Master of Liberal Arts program.
