From proudly sporting the highest athletics team GPA to assisting with food and hygiene drives to literally giving their own blood to help save lives, the Lourdes University Softball team lives up to its "Wonder Wolves" super hero persona.
This 20-member Champions of Character team is comprised of consummate professionals who represent themselves as student-athletes and their school in a truly positive light. As head coach, JoAnn Gordon says the key to their success is team goal setting, which is also an important part of team building.
"We get the group together to talk about what they would like to accomplish each season. Then, we let them brainstorm to come up with collective goals and formulate a plan of action for working towards the common goal.
We keep the goals visible over the course of the season as a reminder of what they set out to accomplish together."
"Our softball team is a wonderful group of bright, talented and strong women; but even super heroes have weaknesses, so another way we facilitate team building is to ask each player to share her strengths and weaknesses with each another. This helps them work together to figure out how they can help their teammates and accomplish their goals using each of their unique strengths."
