In addition to a host of annual lectures, events, and activities held throughout Lourdes campus, there were several new announcements and initiatives that took place last fall.
This year, Lourdes University launched competitive new Dean's Scholars programs for incoming full-time freshman in Business & Leadership, Education & Human Services and Nursing.
The Dean's Scholars Program in Business & Leadership is open to 25 accounting, business administration or health care administration students. Those admitted into the program will receive a number of benefits such as priority access to premier internship opportunities; business mentorship by area leaders in the Executives-in-Residence program; and one-on-one access to Ryan Butt, JD, Interim Dean of the College of Business & Leadership.
The Dean's Scholars Program in Education & Humanities is open to 20 education or social work students. As Dean's Scholars, students will enjoy priority access to study-abroad, research and scholarship opportunities; early advising and course registration; and invitations to be part of professional luncheons/forums with faculty and other community leaders.
The Dean's Scholars Program in Nursing will be offered to 24 students. Students who are accepted into the program receive immediate entry into Lourdes' nursing major.
In November, President Livingston announced the establishment of two new senior administrative positions within the institution. Dean Ludwig, PhD, will serve as the new Vice President for Enrollment, and Michelle Rable has been named Assistant Vice President for Institutional Planning. Additionally, Ryan Butt, JD, has been appointed Interim Dean of the College of Business & Leadership (COBAL).
As Vice President of Enrollment, Dr. Dean Ludwig will oversee admissions, financial aid and retention, and will work closely with athletics and residential life to promote growth in both areas. He holds a MBA and a PhD from the Wharton School of Business. Dr. Ludwig previously served as Lourdes' Dean of the College of Business & Leadership.
As Assistant Vice President for Institutional Planning, Michelle Rable will play an integral role in key university projects and institutional assessment, in addition to retaining her role as Registrar. She holds a MBA with a concentration in public management from The University of Findlay and a bachelor's degree in communications from The University of Toledo.

Ryan earned a bachelor's and a master's degree from The University of Notre Dame and a Juris Doctorate from Valparaiso University School of Law.
Lourdes University is pleased to announce that its baccalaureate program in social work has been awarded an eight year continuation of its accreditation from the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). The honor means Lourdes' program has met the nationally recognized standards set forth by the association regarding the preparation of competent social work practitioners.
In December, Lourdes' College of Nursing celebrated its first graduating class of nurse anesthetists. Twelve students comprised the class, all of whom have already secured post-graduate positions with area hospitals and medical practices. Congratulations graduates!
