Inaugural baseball team opens at new stadium
The 2012 Lourdes Gray Wolves baseball team will have the luxury of playing their inaugural home games in a new stadium!
"The assistant coaches and student athletes who have signed on are excited to begin this new era for Lourdes," offers Head Coach Andy Ham. "To host our games in a state-of-the-art stadium shows how much the Lourdes Community supports us. We can't wait to travel to Florida for spring break and return to host our home opener."
The stadium is being built by friend Cleves Delp on the grounds owned by the Diocese of Toledo. Lourdes will lease the stadium and the Gray Wolves and Central Catholic Irish will share the facilities.
"I couldn't pass up on the opportunity to contribute to two quality institutions that have built their reputation on providing the best private education possible," adds Mr. Delp. "The stadium will welcome high school and college communities from throughout the Midwest and showcase the best that our region has to offer."
Coach Ham is especially pleased because "the stadium will allow Lourdes to host NAIA conference and national tournaments. It will truly put the Lourdes name and the Gray Wolves in the forefront of intercollegiate athletics."
The stadium will offer the team and fans a fun ballpark experience with many amenities:
- Lights for night games
- Locker room for up to 50 players
- Shower room
- Separate study area
- Concession area
- Elevated broadcast room, announcers room and suite
