Franciscan Pilgrimage

The Franciscan Pilgrimage brings together students of various faith traditions from Franciscan Institutions across the United States to reflect on and learn from the vision and values of Saints Francis and Clare of Assisi. The Pilgrimage includes time for reflection, study, conversation, leisure, relaxation and visits to sacred Franciscan places in Assisi and Rome.

A glitch in the travels

Well, after some flight connection issues, we made it to Rome. Sadly, our luggage didn't. Emily's made it over the weekend and she's been sharing her clothes. We arrived in Assisi on New Year's eve.

All three of us love Assisi so much better than Rome. It's so much cleaner and there definitely is a sense of peace as soon as you arrive in the city! And we sure so need that peace after the whirlwind we have faced. Everyone is so kind lending us clothes and shampoo while we wait for our luggage to arrive.

We received mail today from Sr. Rebecca and Sandra, Laurie, Alisa, and Karen. It was a much needed surprise to walk in Casa Pappa and see our names in those envelopes! Ringing in the New Year with the Italians is something we will never forget. There was a live band that actually sang songs in English! We had a huge conga line going with all the pilgrims.

Today we are taking a walking historical tour of the city, seeing where Francis was born and such. This trip has been such a blessing and a test of patience all rolled into one and I know we have learned so much about our Franciscan heritage and tradition that we can apply to our lives at home.
