The search for the University’s next president is progressing well and on schedule. The search committee recently met and began the multi-stage vetting process to identify candidates whose backgrounds and experiences ¬seem especially consistent with the qualities and qualifications established for the search. The committee faced difficult choices as it reviewed the applications of a broad and deep pool of accomplished leaders. The committee will meet again in December to conduct another level of evaluation and to select a small number of semi-finalists for confidential preliminary interviews. At the conclusion of those interviews, a sub-set of those candidates will be identified as finalists to participate in extensive interviews on campus, with a broad range of constituents. Our current timetable expects that we will welcome finalists to campus in mid- to late January and early February. We are pleased with the progress of the committee’s work to date and encouraged about the ultimate outcome of the search process.
