Sister Ann Carmen Barone, O.S.F.
Vice President for Mission & Ministry
Sister Ann Carmen Barone brings a passion for the mission of Lourdes University and a wealth of experience with all things Franciscan to her role as Vice President for Mission & Ministry. She also serves as Director of Liturgy for the Sisters of St. Francis.
As a Sister of St. Francis of Sylvania, Ohio, Sister Ann Carmen has taught music and religion at several elementary schools and high schools in Ohio and Michigan, including Cardinal Stritch High School in Oregon, OH. She served as Vocation Minister for the Sisters of St. Francis before coming to Lourdes University in 1994. During her tenure at Lourdes she has served as Director of Campus Ministry, music instructor and chairperson of the Music Department.
While growing up in Sandusky, Sister Ann Carmen met the Sylvania Franciscans and entered the Congregation after graduating from high school. She received an AA degree from Lourdes Junior College; a BA degree from Mary Manse College; and a Master of Music degree with a concentration in Music Education and Choral Music from Bowling Green State University. She also earned a certificate in Franciscan Studies from the Association of Franciscan Colleges & Universities.
Sister Ann Carmen was a member of the Toledo Diocesan Liturgical Commission and served as its chair. She was a member of the planning committee at Providence Hospital, Sandusky and served on the Board of Trustees for Trinity Health System, Steubenville. She currently serves on the Board of Franciscan Care Center, Sylvania and Sylvania Area Family Services. Numerous parishes, adult education and music programs have benefited from Sister Ann Carmen’s love of music and liturgical prayer.
