About the Travelers

Why travel with Lourdes?

For our MBA Candidates, Lourdes Alumni, and Friends of Lourdes University, traveling with the Lourdes University MBA program means gaining hands-on interaction with international businesses. For all participants, this is an opportunity to experience a foreign country’s people, culture and business environment and to truly be a citizen of the world. These experiences will offer unique business insight to those who participate in the visits to local corporations, and exciting sightseeing opportunities for those who choose not to participate. Lourdes does the planning for you, allowing even first-time travelers to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Do you have to be a Lourdes graduate to participate?

Any member of the Lourdes Community is welcome on our international trips. This includes current students, alumni, faculty, staff, family, friends, and members of the whole Franciscan Village.

About the trips

How large or small are your groups?

Trip size varies, but no travel group is over 50 people. Our travel group will consist of a small number of MBA candidates, along with two faculty members of the Lourdes College of Business & Leadership. Additionally we will be hosted by a trained, English-speaking local guide, prepared to address any concerns or questions that participants have on their trip.

Are there minimum or maximum age limits?

All our international travel is targeted at an adult audience, however guests as young as 15 will be permitted when accompanied by an adult. There is no maximum age, but contact the travel planners for information on specific trips and your individual needs.

What's included in the price of a trip?

Prices vary by trip. All prices listed in travel-specific documentation are based on double occupancy rooms; a supplementary single occupancy fee is available. Tours, business visits, and transportation listed on the itinerary are all included in the price. Each travel document specifies services that are not included in the given price. If a registration deadline is missed, then you will still have the option to pay only the ground cost, and purchase your own airfare.

Is there an additional cost for single travelers?

All trip prices are based on double occupancy. A single supplemental fee will apply for single occupancy, or in cases where a same-gender roommate cannot be matched.

When do I have to make a payment?

An initial down payment is due at the time of trip registration via World Strides online portal. The initial down payment is $400. If the trip is less than 120 days from departure, then 50% of the trip cost is due; 60 days before the departure, 100% of the trip cost is due. Participants have the option to pay all of the total costs at the initial registration or it can be paid in three separate payments — the initial down payment at registration, and payments at 120 and 60 days from departure, respectively.

Can I book my air transportation on my own?

You certainly can; prices without international airfare are listed in the travel documents provided. It is the responsibility of the traveler to secure transportation from the arriving airport terminal to the hotel upon arrival in the foreign country, as well as the return from the hotel to the departing airport terminal. Neither Lourdes University nor its partner World Strides are responsible for individuals booking separate air-transportation.

Dates, schedules, costs and program details are accurate based on information received by Lourdes University as of July 1, 2013, but are subject to change. Please verify details, dates, and pricing prior to booking a reservation directly with the travel supplier. Lourdes University provides the service of facilitating international travel opportunities for its alumni and friends. Though the College of Business & Leadership works with its travel suppliers to offer interesting and educational trips, please remember that the University does not conduct tours, nor does it act as an agent for guests interested in tours. The College of Business & Leadership MBA program, instead, functions as a facilitator with tour suppliers with whom our travelers make arrangements for completing travel. We are pleased to act as a liaison with tour suppliers should you have any questions before, during or after a tour.
