KoesterGreenhouse

The Paul R. Koester Greenhouse, situated directly behind Mother Adelaide Hall, offers new technology to assist Lourdes in its ecology, botany, and genetics courses as well as in community collaborations with Oak Openings. Improvements made in 2005 include new temperature controls, new glazing, and automated ventilation and watering systems.

The greenhouse has been widening its circle of partnerships with area organizations. Greenhouse manager Robin Ford-Parker, BS, Environmental Science, 2005, is currently preparing the greenhouse to cultivate plants from four environmentally conscious organizations – The Toledo Zoo, the Bowling Green Parks System, the Nature Conservancy, and the Toledo Metroparks.

Due to the generosity of Paul Koester, retired educator, the Lourdes Koester Greenhouse was completely renovated. This valuable funding allowed the facility to expand its services not only to our students in Biology and Environmental Science but also to the community of Northwest Ohio.
