The Senior Admissions Counselor and Transfer Specialist is a mid-level position with participation in all phases of the student recruitment process and reports directly to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions.  This position is responsible for managing the enrollment process for transfer students and international admissions. This person also serves as a Designated School Official.



  • Evaluates transfer, readmit, and international applicants in accurate and timely fashion, reviews academic credentials and renders admissions decisions as mandated by Lourdes University’s undergraduate admissions standards including data entry, tracking, and reporting in the Customer Relations Management (CRM) system
  • Expectation is to increase applications and enrollment activity through cultivating relationships within the assigned population, and assist with forecasting enrollment within transfer and international populations in order to meet departmental goals
  • Recruit prospective students by attending community college visits, college and/or career fairs, and other transition services programs and events
  • Develop relationships with community college advising staff and community leaders through scheduled visits and recruitment opportunities
  • Meet with transfer and international students in-person and virtually
  • Develop knowledge about Lourdes University’s cost of attendance, financial aid and scholarship opportunities, and its academic and extracurricular programs in order to articulate these programs
  • In conjunction with the University Registrar, connect students with academic advisors and other resources (including Transferology) to provide accurate and timely support for transfer students with questions about transferability of courses, academic planning, and differences between similar academic programs
  • Follow up on inquiry files through phone calls and other appropriate correspondence
  • Support day-to-day function of the Admission Office
  • Maintain access to online transcript evaluation service portals such as WES and InCred, as well as English testing service portals such as Duolingo English Test and TOEFL
  • Serve as a Slate Captain.

 Designated School Official:

  • Collect financial certification forms and other documents in preparation for the I-20 process
  • Issue Form I-20 (DS-2019) and any other required documents for international students and mail those documents to students through FedEx in a timely manner to allow enough time for visa interviews in their home countries
  • Help students to stay in status with the government by advising students about rules and regulations for international students studying in the USA
  • Utilize resources such as the SEVIS Help Desk to resolve immigration issues faced by both current and incoming international students
  • Maintain access to the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS)
  • Sign travel endorsements on Form I-20s for international students in good standing.

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • One to three years in a related educational position and/or higher education preferred.
