Pre-Physical Therapy (BS in Biology w/concentration)
Bachelor of Science in Biology
One of the most rewarding careers, a Physical Therapist helps ill or injured patients improve their mobility and manage their pain. Physical therapists also play a critical role in rehabilitation and treatment of those patients dealing with chronic conditions or injuries. One of the fastest growing employment options, physical therapists are in demand to treat the baby boomer generation as well as those individuals suffering from chronic conditions.
Bachelor of Science in Biology majors with a Pre-Physical Therapy concentration work closely with their advisor during their undergraduate studies. Upon graduation, students must gain successful entrance into a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. Most programs require applicants to apply through the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service.
High achieving students can choose to apply for membership as an Honors Program candidate.
All states require physical therapists to be licensed and licensing requirements vary by state. Many physical therapists choose to become a board-certified specialist in either orthopedics or geriatric physical therapy.
