Lourdes Society – celebrating our friends
To recognize its most dedicated friends, President Mary Ann Gawelek has established the Lourdes Society. Founding co-chairs of the Society are Chrys Peterson and Tom Runnells, two of this region’s most dynamic and accomplished professionals.
A six-time Emmy Award recipient and Associated Press Broadcasting Hall of Fame inductee, Ms. Peterson is a 2011 graduate of the Lourdes Master of Organizational Leadership program and a valuable member of the Board of Trustees.
A former Major League Baseball (MLB) infielder, manager and coach, Tom Runnells won the 2012 Colorado Rockies Abby Greer Award. His coaching career includes stints with the Cincinnati Reds, Montreal Expos, Detroit Tigers and most recently the Colorado Rockies.
As Co-Chairs, the couple will strengthen connections with individuals who contribute $1,000 a year or more or those who have donated $100,000 or more to Lourdes throughout their giving history. Lourdes Society members will be invited to an annual exclusive event that celebrates them and their commitment as well as special presidential events, lectures and performances. Through video and print features, the University will also celebrate the life and good work of Lourdes Society members throughout the year.
“Tom and I are excited to carry on the rich tradition first established in 1983 by the Lourdes Auxiliary – to support the University’s development and strategic initiatives. Working with a talented team including President Gawelek and Vicki Stouffer, our goal is to help Lourdes establish the best academic programs and student life offerings at this exceptional Franciscan university,” says Ms. Peterson.
