This page only applies to current undergraduate students of Lourdes University effective April 1, 2020 for the 2020-2021 academic year.

If you are an incoming first-year or transfer student, please submit a housing application via your admissions portal through slate.
If you are a graduate or non-traditional student, you will receive information concerning renewing your leases in the next few weeks.

 

Welcome to the Room Draw Policy for the 2020-2021 academic school year.

Lourdes University’s philosophy is to give first choice on housing preference to those returning students who have achieved academically and set a positive example as community members. We also seek to recognize those students who have progressed academically towards graduation.

To be eligible to participate in Room Draw for the 2020 -2021 school year the following items must be in place:

  1. Registered for at least 12 hours for the fall 2020 semester
  2. Not have a financial hold on your student account
  3. Not have a conduct hold on your account or a current Community Standards case in progress

ROOM DRAW PROCESS:

*****Throughout the afternoon of Room Draw, if you have questions please call the RA cell # at 567-694-4453. This will serve as a RES LIFE HELP LINE (separate from IT) for these three afternoon sessions *****

Please mark your calendars for April 20 – 22 daily from 3 pm – 6 pm for this year’s Zoom Room Draw.

Monday:  Fifth year and rising seniors with at least 84+ credits

Tuesday:  Rising juniors with at least 56 – 83 credits

Wednesday:  Rising sophomores with at least 28 – 55 credits

The order of students picking housing assignment will be based on class standing and number of credits earned.  For example: the person with the most credit hours earned living in Lourdes Commons next year will get the first pick and then it will go from there based on a ranked numbering system.

When you come in for your class standing time residence life staff will put you in order of credits earned.

1. Students who have earned at least 84 credit hours

a.  In a case of more than one student requesting the same apartment who has earned at least 84 credit hours, preference will be given to the student with the most total hours earned

2. Students who have earned at least 56 credit hours

a. In a case of more than one student requesting the same apartment who has earned at least 56 credit hours, preference will be given to the student with the most total hours earned

3. Students who have earned at least 28 credit hours

a. In a case of more than one student requesting the same apartment who has earned at least 28 credit hours, preference will be given to the student with the most total hours earned

4. All other current residential and enrolled Lourdes Students

a. In a case of two students with the same amount of hours requesting the same apartment, preference will be given to the student who has earned the highest grade point average then number of hours earned at Lourdes.

ZOOM ROOM DRAW INSTRUCTIONS

This year’s process is being conducted via Zoom Meeting Conference software.  Many of you have been using this for classroom interfacing since mid-March.  Students are asked to refer to the email  sent by Res Life on Sunday April 5 for additional information.

In order to have the best Zoom experience during Room Draw, please be aware of the following:

  1. Sign up in advance for a Zoom Account. You can do so at https://zoom.us/download#client_meeting. It is best to enter into the Zoom conference on one of the following devices:  laptop with webcam, a MAC, an Ipad or a phone with a WiFi connection.
  2. We do not recommend using a desktop without webcam, a Chromebook or a phone with LTE or 4g.
  3. If you have need for an accessibility accommodation for medical, dietary or an emotional support animal, please email your concerns and needs to: tmasman@lourdes.edu by Monday, April 20 at noon. A consultation will be made with Sara Soper in the Office of Accessibility Services.

On Friday, April 17th students will receive an email from Residence Life with their Zoom Room Draw time slot.  This will include the Zoom link/#, along with password.  The exact 30 minute range time slot to enter the Zoom Room Draw will be provided.  Time slot determined is based on credits earned and GPA standing.  When students come in for selection time time residence life staff will have already put you in order of credits earned.

To start your Zoom Room Draw process you will need to follow these steps:

  1. Make sure you have registered for classes for fall 2020. Please make an appointment with your advisor as soon as possible and get registered!  If you have some type of hold (financial, conduct, or academic) please take care of it as soon as possible. If you need help with this, please reach out to the appropriate department.
  2. Pick your top 3 choices of where you would like to live next year as your top choice might already be taken.Check the floor plan here.
  3. Pick your roommate or roommates and make sure they are also getting registered for classes.
  4. Proxy information:
    1. If a student is unable to attend, s/he will need to send an email to Reslife@lourdes.edu with first, second, and third choice for an apartment. This will serve as your proxy for the Zoom Room Draw process.
      Include a cell # where you can be reached during your selection day/time.
    2. Deadline for Room Draw emails is noon on the day a student is scheduled to participate in Zoom Room Draw.
    3. Email should list “Zoom Room Draw” on the subject line
    4. If a student has a preferred roommate(s), their name(s) should be listed in the email
    5. The preferred roommate(s) need(s) to submit an email also with the same information above.
    6. Be specific, list building name, pod & apartment number for both first, second, & third choices
    7. Keep in mind that while we will do our best to accommodate housing requests, we do not guarantee that we can accommodate every student’s choices or that their assignment will not be changed in any way even after they have been assigned.

 5. Returning Students may request rooms in Ambrose 4841, Emmanuel, Cabrini, Felicia, Pioneer and Rosaria Halls.  Premium Housing will be offered in Felicia 4820 as singles and doubles and Premium Light in              Felicia 4810 as triples and quads; and a limited number of single apartments are available in Rosaria 6601

6. If you are not currently living on campus email reslife@lourdes.edu in order to get a room draw date and time slot.  Please indicate your name, class/year and number of credits.

THE BUILDINGS THAT WILL BE AVAILABLE TO RETURNING STUDENTS WILL BE AS FOLLOWS:

  6. Single Apartment Option is available in Rosaria 6601. We will be offering approximately 10-12 single apartments to upperclass students. Again, these will be distributed based on credits earned.
  7. PREMIUM APARTMENT FOR SENIORS, JUNIORS AND SOPHOMORES : We will be offering Premium housing options for Seniors, Juniors and Sophomores in Felicia 4820 (singles and doubles, no meal plan) and Premium Lite in Felicia 4810 (triples and quads with meal plan). The rates will be:

Full bathroom and Half-bathroom

Central Air-Conditioning

Full-Size Beds in 4820

Dishwasher

There will be no RA or RD in Felicia 4820. No meal plan is required for students living in Premium Housing in Felicia 4820 with the double or single option apartment! Those students opting for the triple or quad option in Felicia 4810 will need to sign up for a 19, 15, or 10 option meal plan.  

Summer housing:

  • If you plan to stay for the summer, you may only reside in Emmanuel Halls.
  • In order to reside in summer housing you must be enrolled in summer classes, in an internship or research assignment or be working on campus for the summer.
  • We will not be assigning single rooms for summer, so summer housing students should all plan on having roommates.
  • Rates for summer will be $625.00/12 week term, $300.00/5 week term, and $200.00 for the time from August 1 – 23, 2020. Monthly rates will remain the same.
  • You must send an email to Reslife@lourdes.edu no later than May 1, 2020 stating your intent to stay over summer. Please provide a copy of your summer class schedule and/or work contract.
  • Assignments will be made by May 8. 2020
