Assistant Professor Brett Berger possesses 12 years of diversified sports industry experience which includes the corporate, youth and university settings. He joins us at Lourdes from Adrian College in Michigan where he served as the Women’s ACHA DI Head Ice Hockey Coach and Assistant Ice Arena Manager.

During his time coaching, Brett won a National Championship, 4 League Playoff Championships, 5 Regular Season Championships and was named National Coach of the Year in 2017. He has coached both men’s and women’s athletics varying from both the NCAA and ACHA levels.

Internationally, Brett served as the Assistant Women’s Ice Hockey Coach for Team USA during the World University Games in 2017 (Almaty, Kazakhstan) and 2019 (Krasnoyarsk, Siberia), where he helped guide the team to winning the Bronze Medal in 2017.

Professor Berger earned a Master of Management in Sports Management from Wilmington University and a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from Rutgers University.

Over his time in the university setting, Brett was involved with student retention and has mentored numerous students. He possesses a specific interest in topics such as women in sports, title IX, ethics in sports and leadership, and facility management.

Recently, he has taken on the role of Assistant Coach for the United States Women’s Ball Hockey National Team. The team will compete in June of 2022 in Montreal, Quebec.
