Ms. Kathleen A. McGrady is thrilled to serve as the Instrumental Music Director and shares her enthusiasm and passion for music alongside the LU community. “Music is such a positive and infectious art and I am excited to be a piece of that influence for the music department in the coming years,” she says.

A graduate of Bowling Green State University, Ms. McGrady serves on the BGSU Alumni Band Board, and holds a Master’s Degree in Music Education from Vandercook College of Music.

Representing Ohio as the Immediate Past President of the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA), Ms. Kathleen McGrady brings over 30 years of Music Education experience to her position. In 2015, she retired from public school teaching with Springfield Local Schools in Holland, Ohio as Director of Bands from 1999-2015 and Northwood Local School where she was named “Teacher of the Year.” Ms. McGrady has served OMEA in several capacities including District President, District Secretary/Treasurer, State Secretary, Band Chair for the 2012 State conference, and All-State Ensemble Coordinator for the 2016 OMEA State Conference.

Among her honors, Ms. McGrady received the Ohio Music Education Association 2015 Outstanding Music Educator of the year and was inducted into the Oregon Clay High School Hall of Fame as a Distinguished Alumni. She was chosen as Springfield High School’s “You Made a Difference Award” and was one of ten Band Directors from the United States selected to be on Staff for the All-American Marching Band that performed for the Grand Opening of the new Euro Disney Park in Paris, France. She has been recognized twice by the American School Band Directors Association and was selected as the 2015 Buckeye Cable Sports Network “Teacher of the Year” resulting in the “Kathy McGrady Fine Arts Scholarship” and the “Kathleen McGrady Legacy Scholarship” both given every year to a deserving senior from Springfield High School.
