Scott Sanders earned his Bachelor’s in Social Work from Eastern Michigan University, his MSW from Grand Valley State University and his Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky.  He has been in social work education for over 25 years and is excited to bring his experience and love for students to Lourdes University.

Prior to teaching, Dr. Sanders worked in residential treatment and foster care settings working with youth and families. He also helped start an adventure based program that focused on experiential therapy to facilitate healthy relationships. While at UK, Dr. Sanders completed his dissertation research examining the effects of ethics education on graduate level social work students.

During and since that time he has conducted numerous ethics workshops at both the state, national, and even international level.  Most recently, he co-authored an ethics textbook entitled “The helping professional’s guide to ethical decision-making: A new perspective” which was originally published by Lyceum Publishing and currently under Oxford University Press.

Dr. Sanders is happily married to his wife, Nora, has two daughters (and one son-in-law), and an extremely needy dog named Lola.
