As Coordinator of Clinical and Field Experiences for the Lourdes University College of Social Sciences Education Division, Therese Hernandez is responsible for placing teacher candidates into area schools to complete their clinical and field experiences. She is also the Licensing Agent for the University’s Education Division.
Ms. Hernandez earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics from the University of South Florida, and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from the University of Dayton. She holds administration licensure in K-12 Educational Leadership from both the Ohio and Florida Departments of Education and an FDOE teaching endorsement in English to Speakers of Other Languages.
Born and raised in Florida, Ms. Hernandez has nearly three decades of service as an educational leader. Her contributions include 15 years as an administrator in the Catholic Diocese of St. Petersburg and as a Teacher and Teacher Trainer for the Hillsborough County Public School System in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area. While there, she utilized her expertise in ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) to create, develop and implement curriculum for postgraduate teachers.
As an independent contractor, she has consulted with school districts to plan workshops and in-service trainings on the top of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). A recipient of the Innovations in Catholic Education (ICE) Award from Today’s Catholic Teacher in 2015, Ms. Hernandez was also presented with the Distinguished Graduate Award by Nativity Catholic School in honor of her contribution to Catholic Education.
