Lourdes Rec Center closed this weekend; no spectators permitted at Dec. 3 home basketball games
This weekend, Lourdes University’s Russell Ebeid Recreation Center will close at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, December 3 and reopen on Sunday, December 4 at 9 am. The fitness rooms, lockers and all areas of the center will be closed to Lourdes community members and the public during this timeframe. In addition, Lourdes ID cards will not provide access to the Rec Center during these hours.
No spectators will be permitted at the Saturday, December 3rd men’s and women’s Gray Wolf basketball home games. These decisions were made in coordination with Lawrence Tech and Lourdes Athletic officials, Lourdes security, the Sylvania Police, and Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference personnel.
Earlier this week, Lourdes security received advance notice of a credible threat and immediately notified University administrators.
The University’s number one priority is safety. Lourdes and Lawrence Tech have consulted with security and safety personnel and are following all recommended procedures and protocols throughout the weekend. To ensure the Gray Wolf and Blue Devil teams can compete in a safe and respectful environment, the games will be available via streaming at www.lourdesathletics.com/watch.
The University appreciates your cooperation with this necessary and temporary adjustment. Please know Lourdes remains dedicated to providing students, faculty, staff, and visitors a healthy and safe environment.
