Being a student at Lourdes University places you in great company with other values-centered individuals who see what a Lourdes undergraduate education can do for you. We’ve never met but let’s get acquainted. I’m one of the Franciscan Sisters whose congregation sponsors Lourdes University. I’m also a proud alumna.
Going to college is more than about academics. Oh yes, learning subject matter is very important. But college is also about you becoming a better person in all ways. This means friends that you’ll make, clubs and activities you’ll get involved in, opportunities to serve others who need your help, and being a better and better person.
Lourdes University speaks of three types of communities: a Community of Learning, a Community of Reverence, and a Community of Service. I could take what I wrote in the previous sentence and reorganize those words as follows:
Community of Learning: “Going to college is more than about academics. Oh yes, learning subject matter is very important…” Lourdes has outstanding academics.
Community of Reverence: “But college is also about you becoming a better person in all ways. This means friends that you’ll make, clubs and activities you’ll get involved in, and being a better and better person.” Lourdes has lots of connectivity.
Community of Service: “But college is also about you becoming a better person in all ways. This means … opportunities to serve others who need your help …” Lourdes has numerous and unique service opportunities including Habitat for Humanity, Labre Program, Olander Park System, community food banks, outreach trips to Jamaica and Guatemala, and even opportunities to help fellow students with homework.
Lourdes University is ready to help all students get to their “prize.”
